Legal Aid

  • Legal Aid

Legal Aid is available for mediation and if you qualify, both the initial information meeting and the Mediation is free of charge.

Also, if you qualify for Legal aid, you can get free advice and assistance from a solicitor throughout the mediation and also have any financial agreement you make made legally binding into a court order. Your mediator will discuss this with you.

We usually assess you for Legal aid at your information and assessment meeting.

However, if you would like to know before attending your meeting whether you will qualify for Legal Aid, you can either check the legal aid calculator, or telephone us and we will arrange for one of or mediators to do a telephone assessment with you.

  • Eligibility for Legal Aid

Legal Aid is based on the amount of income you have, including income from any wages and state benefits or elsewhere, and also any capital and savings you have and any properties you own.

We will need you to provide us with certain documents for your legal aid assessment, such as your wage slips and proof of your benefits.

We will explain the information and documents we need from you, based on your particular circumstances.
